Bridging Business to a World of Local Talent

Language Assessment

Many internationally trained applicants have the language skills essential to performing well on the job.

If your company automatically bypasses this pool of multilingual workers, you company could be foregoing:

  • Opportunities to strengthen relationships with suppliers and customers in global markets.
  • Expansion into ethno-cultural markets domestically.
  • Hiring the most qualified candidate for the job.
  • Filling skill vacancies in your company.

There are tools available to help your company assess language levels such as the Canadian Language Benchmarks.  Candidates available through area employment and training agencies and profiled on Skills International have also been pre-screened for language levels.

If you have an employee or prospective hire that does need language upgrading, many area organizations are now delivering occupation-specific or enhanced language training.    This training helps workers, who are already highly versed in the English language, master occupation- and industry-specific vocabulary.    There are opportunities to partner with community-based agencies to deliver trainings customized to your workplace or industry needs.
